  • Finding Balance This Fall: Honoring Your Energy and Capacity

October’s theme at Latitude Wellness is balance, and it feels especially relevant to where I am right now. The reality is that Latitude Wellness has been getting what’s left of my attention. Much of my effort has been going toward my consulting work and our family business, Puroclean of Reno and Bullseye Environmental. I care about all of this work, and it comes with responsibilities that require my time.

I also care deeply about Latitude Wellness. Watching it receive the leftover pieces of my energy has made me pause and reflect on how much I value this important work – for humanity and for my own evolution and healing. Balancing these businesses helps me work with both the masculine and feminine energies. Both are necessary within our energetic functioning and blueprint. When either are out of alignment and not balanced, the other planes of our body end up taking on more stress and responsibility.

Consequently, I can’t give everything my full attention at once. I can, however, be more intentional about what I give my time to and whether those choices still reflect what I want.

Balance Starts with an Honest Look at Your Life

Balance isn’t about dividing your time equally between work, family, health, and everything else you care about. Some seasons require more from one part of your life. A project needs your focus. A family member needs support. Your body needs recovery. Something you want to build deserves more attention.

The challenge is noticing when a temporary shift has become your default.

For me, that means asking whether I’m consciously choosing where my energy goes or simply responding to whatever feels most urgent. It also means acknowledging that something can matter to me and still needs more space in my schedule. Read more about energy flows where attention goes in this post.

You may recognize that feeling: getting through the responsibilities while the things that nourish you keep getting hijacked or moved to the low end of the priority list.

Doing Hard Things and Making Room for Soft Things

I love doing hard things. Ironically, that’s my comfort zone.

Resting? Taking breaks? Saying no when my body is done but my mind says, Keep going? Those take more practice. Sometimes it takes more effort for me to quiet my mind and body than it does to take on a challenge. I still catch myself judging that.

I’m learning to take breaks without guilt. Sitting outside without turning it into productive time. To let rest belong in my day before I’ve reached the point of exhaustion. I’m also paying attention to the belief that I have to do something hard before I’m allowed something soft. Rest doesn’t have to be earned through depletion.

Honoring the Season You’re In

At our fall equinox sound bath, we reflected on the changing season and the movement between action and stillness. That reflection carries into October. Where do I want to expand? Where do I need to contract?

Expansion might mean giving a meaningful project more attention, trying something new, or making time for connection. Contracting might mean reducing commitments, stepping back from an expectation, leaving an evening open, or declining an invitation without guilt.

Both require discernment.

If I want Latitude Wellness to receive more of my attention, I need to make actual room for it. Adding another intention to an already full plate won’t create balance.

This is what the art of balance looks like in this season: honoring what you want alongside the capacity you have, and adjusting accordingly.

How I Invite Reiki into My Practice of Balance

Reiki is one of the ways I make space to pause and receive support. I call in Reiki throughout my day, especially when I notice myself rushing, overthinking, or pushing past what I need.

That pause gives me an opportunity to listen. What am I feeling? What needs my attention? What can wait?

At Latitude Wellness, my Reiki sessions in Reno offer dedicated time to step away from your responsibilities and reconnect with yourself. You don’t need to arrive with everything figured out. You can come with a busy mind, a full plate, or simply a desire for more peace, calm, and quiet. It doesn’t matter, because once the reiki energy starts flowing, you will return to your natural state of being. It takes showing up and setting an intention – I do the rest!

Three Questions for Finding Balance This Month

Take a few minutes to reflect:

    • Where am I pushing through even though my body is asking for a break?

    • What do I want to give more attention to, and what am I willing to reduce to make room?

    • What would balance look like in this season, with the capacity I actually have?

Your answers may be different next month. Allow yourself to keep adjusting.
