Spring Clean your Mind and your Chakras.
Spring has arrived! Between the Spring Equinox which represents the balance of light and darkness and the full moon in Virgo this month, the energy is about clearing, decluttering, organizing, and releasing outdated beliefs, energy, and physical items in your space.
In nature, flora and fauna emerge and come back to life after a cold and dark retreat. As you rise into this season of awakening and renewal, what do you want to focus on? Do you want to create something new? Or perhaps release a belief or a habit that is no longer part of who you are and want to become?
Whatever it is, taking a moment to reflect on what is important to you in this season of your life may bring you some unexpected or new information on what you want. As it is just that, a season, so shifting your perspective may be all you need to do to thrive. How do you want to bloom this season and shine your light?
Just like our homes and physical spaces need consistent cleaning and require a deep cleanse at times, so do the chakras, aka our energy centers.
We have seven main chakras in our body that are flowing with energy and information about our physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual health. The chakra system contains information from our history on the planet as well as what is happening in the present. As we navigate through life, every experience leaves an energetic imprint that holds our desires, powers, hopes, fears, and limitations to name a few.
While you may be doing all the things to keep your chakras flowing; self-care, meditation, journaling, movement, breath work and/or whatever modalities you choose, spring cleaning your mind is an opportunity to take a closer look at what is happening in your mind and body.
One way to do this is to reflect on what your priorities are in this season.
As I mentioned above, we go through numerous seasons in life and as we move through them, our focus and our priorities will inevitably shift. Friends, colleagues, and clients often share with me their desire for balance – while balance sounds all warm and fuzzy, is it really the goal? To divide your effort and attention to ALL the things. What happens then?
We may think we know what we want and where we want to focus our efforts, however higher self and ego may have differing opinions, which is usually the case.
Three questions you can ask yourself to tune into your wants and needs during this time of awakening and renewal:
What are my priorities right now? (Be specific on this one)
Is it Health & Wellbeing? Family? Career? Fun and Adventure? Financial? Purpose? (If you are trying to tackle all of the above, you may be doing too much which is a great sign to focus on just ONE thing at a time – trust me the rest will follow). Read more about how to focus on one thing and Finish What You Start in a post I wrote in 2020 here.
In what area of my life am I feeling… frustration, fear, irritation, anger, guilt, confusion, or any overwhelming negative emotion? I implore you to get curious on this one. Typically, these emotions are a sign of a blocked chakra or imbalance between your energy centers.
What is going well in my life right now?
Turning your awareness to what is going well can help you focus on how to address the not so wonderful emotions that we experience on a regular basis. It helps frame your perspective and gives you a mental break from the river of despair and cycle of doom and gloom. When we do experience negative emotion, nothing has gone wrong. It’s how we think about what happened that causes the feeling. We have the power to choose how we want to feel by hitting the delete button on old ways of thinking and being. You are not your thoughts.
If you are feeling negative emotion and can’t seem to shake it, it may be a sign that one or several of your chakras are blocked, imbalanced, or working in overdrive.
Below are a few examples of emotional issues that I see in my reiki and energy healing practice. Clients may be experiencing one or several of the following:
- Guilt (Sacral Chakra)
- Trust Issues (Solar & Root Chakras – depending on origin of self, family or partner)
- Fear (Solar Chakra)
- Grief (Heart Chakra)
- Resentment (Heart Chakra)
- Confusion & inability to make decisions (Throat Chakra)
- Lost/Disconnect (Crown Chakra)

Daily thought work and journaling are effective ways in becoming curious about what is happening in your mental and energetic space. Receiving a reiki/energy healing and or an aura & psychic reading may also provide insight as to what is happening in the chakras.

During this spring cleaning, I invite you to take a deeper dive into your mental and energetic space. What thoughts come up for you that you ready to clear out in order to make room for the new? Perhaps you may want to simply enjoy having clear space for the time being and enjoy the freedom of no longer dwelling on the crap your mind has been serving you. You don’t have to bring in something new – getting rid of the old and making space is a wonderful option as well.
The last question to ponder and answer…
This Spring, my focus (aka energy) is on ____________________________.
I will leave that answer up to you because only YOU know the answer.
Here’s to cleaning out the old so we can bring in the new this Spring season!
