Oh Hey There Anger – Why Can’t I Get Over You?
One of the first step’s on the path forward to releasing the past is to acknowledge and accept what is. We can’t change what happened in the past, however we can reframe how we feel about our past. For many of us, thinking about what happened brings up emotionally charged energy. Suppressing feelings like grief, anger, or regret only prolongs the healing process creating more suffering on top of the already difficult emotions. When you allow yourself to feel these emotions without judgment and look at them from a place of compassion and curiosity, you can identify when they keep surfacing. Journaling (pen to paper) can be a powerful tool to express what is happening in your mind, helping you gain clarity about what you’re holding onto. Not only are you releasing this onto paper, you can have a better gauge of what is truth and what are old outdated beliefs.

- Thought Download: One of our favorite tools in our coaching toolbox in the Freedom Mindset Program is the daily thought download. By setting aside a few minutes each day to observe your narrative and QUESTION the script, you can identify what is running in the background which ultimately creates the emotions. If you are thinking I don’t have time to do the important work today, or irritated with your coworker because they haven’t answered your questions in order to push the project forward, you are going to feel overwhelmed and irritated (or insert whatever emotion comes up for you). This practice will help you become more aware of what is happening in your mind and in your emotional landscape.
The Limiting Belief Trap
Often, the past creates limiting beliefs about who we are – such as “I’m not good enough” or “I’ll never get ahead because things keep breaking down.” These negative thoughts keep us trapped in the perpetual cycle of self-doubt and fear. Both low vibrational energies that have a tendency to keep you spinning and repeating the cycle. The key to breaking free is identifying these limiting beliefs and actively challenge them. You can use the thought download to identify these beliefs and then take it one step further in reframing the old.

- Affirmation Practice: Replace limiting beliefs with affirmations or simple reframes. For example, if you catch yourself thinking, “I’ll never be able to move on,” you can reframe that thought with, “I am capable of healing and creating a future of possibilities.” Repeating these affirmations daily helps reprogram your mind and shifts your perspective toward self-empowerment. Just notice when you say these two affirmations how it feels in your body.
The Heavy Load of Resentment
Resentment is a heavy burden to carry, and it often ties us to painful memories from the past. One of the most liberating actions you can take is to forgive; not just others but also yourself. Forgiveness doesn’t mean condoning hurtful behavior; it means freeing yourself from the emotional weight that keeps you bound to the past. We tend to hold resentment in our heart space which constricts energy and limits our connection to our soul. Letting go of resentment is not easy – it takes awareness, practice, and the willingness to be honest with yourself and what is happening. Holding on keeps you in the past. - Mindful Breathing: Whenever you feel overwhelmed by thoughts of the past, try this simple mindful breathing exercise. Close your eyes, inhale deeply through your nose for four counts, hold for four counts, and exhale slowly through your mouth for four counts. Repeat this for a few minutes, paying attention to the sensation of your breath moving through your body. This practice helps ground you in the present and reduces the mental clutter of past memories.

Intentions are more than just goals, they are the guiding principles that align your actions with your higher purpose.
