When you think about moderation, what’s the first word that comes to mind? Maybe it’s not a word at all, maybe it’s a feeling, an image, or a memory. For me, moderation has always been intertwined with the extremes I tend to live in. As I began writing this piece, the word that surfaced was alcohol. No pun intended, but moderation has become one of those buzzwords we throw around without always pausing to ask what it truly means for us. Understanding moderation in the context of your own season of life is the key to living in balance.
At Latitude Wellness, our October theme is balance, a reflection of the Libra season’s energy and the natural rhythm of fall, when day and night stand in equilibrium. It’s a season that invites us to mirror that harmony in our own lives and notice where we might be leaning too far to one side. That is why moderation and balance are so closely related and work together to create the results we are seeking for ourselves and our life.
The Turning Point
Over the past few months, I poured my energy into my other business. Then, everything came to a sudden stop when I made the decision to quit a contractual position I had been working on for several years.
This was not planned! For those who know me, I overthink, strategize, weigh all possibilities and outline the risks and potential. There was no strategy, no timeline, no safety net. It just happened. And yet, somewhere deep within me, I knew it was supposed to. While I felt immense grief and anger, I also felt so much peace in my heart. A feeling I haven’t had for a long time.
The aftermath brought waves of sadness, liberation, and uncertainty. It’s still too raw to unpack and share publicly, but what I can share is this: that moment was a crash course in balance, which I had no clue was coming! When everything familiar dissolves within a second, you learn how to find your center again, sometimes through stillness, sometimes through motion, and always through honesty.
While I am still navigating what happened and what is next, I know for certain, that frantically seeking to fill this hole is the old way. It’s a survival mechanism for control of what is next and finding comfort in the known. These are outdated beliefs and behavior that no longer serve me.
The peace that I feel knowing I am most powerful in the present moment and acting from a place of truth and authenticity is the new way. I am not in any hurry. I will take my time and connect with intention, clarity, and purpose. It’s the natural segway into my next chapter and season on this beautiful journey.
Redefining Balance
As the days shorten and the air cools, nature reminds us of the necessity of balance. The shifting light is a cue to pause and ask yourself:
Where in my life am I out of balance?
Like many of you, I’ve known the exhaustion of burnout and the pressure of constant productivity. For years, I tried to match the pace of the human design “generators” of the world, pushing harder, striving for the next milestone, ignoring what my body and spirit were trying to tell me.
Through energy work, self-reflection, and a lot of unlearning, I’ve realized that alignment only happens when we honor our own rhythm. This realization has hit me through many cycles of repetition, only each time comes with deeper wisdom and the continuation of my healing journey. Balance is not about doing everything perfectly, it’s about listening and responding to what’s needed in each moment. This isn’t what your friend is doing, or your coworker, partner – or what society tells us. This is about getting clear on your needs, desires, and what works for you. Obviously, we have responsibility and tasks within our day that we have committed to doing, my point here is about thinking bigger than your daily routine and schedule. It’s about visualizing what is possible for you and aligning with that energy and taking one step every day.
Living the Practice
Finding balance is about paying attention and making the shifts necessary to your season in life. For me, that looks like asking simple questions every day:
- When do I need stillness?
- When is it time for movement?
- What can I release to make space for what truly nourishes me?
Just as nature rests and restores, we must do the same. In a culture that equates worth with productivity, balance is an act of self love and care, and the foundation for living with clarity, energy, and purpose.
An Invitation to Reclaim Your Rhythm

Let’s use this season as a reset. Because when life inevitably pulls us off center, balance gives us the awareness and the tools to return home to ourselves.
